Upright fridges can in fact come in various temperature ranges, i.e. positive temperature, negative temperature or dual temperature with separate, individual compartments. If you need to chill cooked food or fresh fruit and veg, for instance, then you’ll need a positive temperature fridge that preserves from zero degrees above.
Negative temperature refrigerators, that is upright freezers, freeze and preserve food products below zero degrees. Dual temperature upright fridges,on the other hand, are the perfect solution for restaurants and diners which are tight on space and may demand a slim refigerating cabinet able to both chill and freeze at the same time.

Commercial frige power consumption and energy class
Power consumption is another pivitol feature that mustn’t be underestimated. You will often hear about fridge energy class: this factor signals the energey efficiency of the appliance and must be reported on the energy label.
Higher the energy efficiency, lower the power consumption. We recommend choosing upright fridges and freezers with a high energy class: the investment may seem larger at first but you will soon start seeing the benefits in the long run in terms of consumption.

What’s the difference between positive, negative and dual temperature upright refrigerators?
There are essentially three types of refrigerators: positive, negative and dual temperature. Negative temperature cabinets are designed to run below zero degrees, generally around -18° / -22°C and are particularly suitable for preserving food products.
Positive temperature upright fridges, on the other hand, are made to keep your food fresh. They generally run above zero degrees and usually range between 0° and 18°C. Lastly, dual temperature refrigerators combine the best of both positive and negative cabinets. These are in fact ideal for food businesses with limited space yet require both a fridge and freezer with separate, individual compartments (a negative area and and postitive area).
What are tropicalized upright refrigerators?
Tropicalized fridges are refrigerators with a particular compressor which guarantees high performance in environments which reach up to 43°C in temperature and a relative humidity of 60HR max.
What’s the difference between static, ventilated and roll-bond refrigeration?
Static cooled refrigerator cabinets transfer cold air through irradiation from a plate within the cabinet. This cooling system creates more condensation than others.
Cabinets with ventilated refrigeration (commonly called fan-cooled fridges or fan-assisted fridges), on the other hand, cool the air within the fridge by means of an evaporator on the outside of the chamber. A fan draws in hot air from the cabinet and pushes it towards the evaporator so to cool it down and is directed within the cabinet. Fan-cooled fridges create a “dry” chill.
In professional refrigerators with roll-bond system, the cold air is created by a plate with refrigerant gas located at the bottom of the cabinet. Roll-bond refrigeration is an in-between system of the static and ventilated cooling types.
How do commercial upright fridges defrost?
Upright refrigerators generally come with four main types of defrosting systems. The first type is using a digital thermostat, which defrosts the fridge based on the panel settings.
Off-cycle defrost, on the other hand, occurs when the fridge is turned off, that is to say when the cabinet is no longer cooling. This method is generally used in positive temperature upright fridges so that ice and frost melt naturally.
Then there’s the electric defrost. In this defrosting system the ice is thawed by means of a heating element located within the evaporator. This is usually found in negative-temperature refrigerators as it is particularly effective in keeping the evaporator clean.
Lastly, we have the hot gas defrost. This is the best type of defrosting system: it is quick and cleans out the evaporator completely thanks to the flow of hot gas. The absence of heating elements reduces the power consumption.
How do I maintain a professional upright refrigerator?
The interior of the fridge as well as the condensor ought to be cleaned at least once a week. The fridge must be switched off and unplugged during sanitizing.
To prevent malfunction, we recommend replacing the gaskets, which tend to harden over time thus allowing air to flow through and ice and condensation to form.
During the holidays we advise you to unplug the fridge completely. Before using it again, make sure to clean the fridge thouroughly and keep the door open for a couple of hours (perhaps you can cover it with a cloth) as to allow air to circulate within the fridge.
How much power do professional fridges consume?
New generation upright fridges consume a moderate amount of power. This is thanks to several converging factors. Fridges are in fact well insulated and come with gaskets to avoid the dispersion of cold air and to optimize power consumption. To have an idea of the power consumption of the fridge you are interested in simply have a look at its energy class, which you can find on the energy label in conformity with European standards.

Moreover a multiple-door fridge reduces power consumption, as the dispersion of cold air is more localized compared to a single door fridge.

What do I do if my frige is faulty or damaged?
Should the fridge be dented or damaged upon delivery, we recommend you accept it, sign the consignment note and make sure to add the clause “damaged parcel/s”. You must specify your decision to the courier whilst signing the delivery note. AllForFood will then be able to claim for your delivery insurance and solve the problem pomptly. All this free of charge.
Should your item be dysfunctional (this excludes damage caused by misuse of the item) then it is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. The manufacturer’s warranty lasts 12 months from the date of purchase.
